Best laser engravers for leather

Vegetable-tanned leather engraves cleanly with diode and CO2 lasers. Check what you're buying: faux leather can contain PVC, which must never be lasered.

What to look for

  • Diode or CO2: both engrave leather well.
  • An enclosure and good ventilation, because burning leather smells strong.
  • A camera, for placing designs on small, irregular pieces.

How this list is ranked

With the same scoring as the laser quiz: each manufacturer's published specs, our material data and the lowest price we track. Commission rates play no part. Where a spec isn't published, the machine's line says so instead of guessing. Hands-on notes, where we have them, are on each machine's page.
